Okay so admittedly I have “slept” on Billie Holiday. I just spent the past few hours rabidly digging through youtube looking at vids of her. Does anyone still make music like this? Thanks for posting this one peagahairy.
This man is not super famous, but he should be. Super talented musician with the stage name “L” Debois. Here is a link to more of his videos. They are all good. The video below is his cover of “If this world were mine”. Feel it!
I really enjoy this song. However the song is not the reason for the post. Rather it is the extremely powerful footage contained in the video. Enough said…
Suggie Otis’s album entitled Inspiration Information is horribly underrated. Please pick it up from your local bodega.
I choose the song Island Letter. This song conveys the emptiness left when someone comes in to your life and leaves; along with the feelings associated with the thought of their return. Thanks zedek3147 for the post.
I found this video about six months ago. I was amazed at how effortlessly a young Hector Lavoe threw down the vocals. Willie Colon is also on the trombone! This video is a piece of history. Please be patient…the quality is a bit choppy at the beginning, but it gets better. Thanks to jnyc101 for posting this.
Watch Gilberto and Bebel Gilberto perform Diga live. This has always been one of my favorite youtube videos. Down some vino while you take this one in.
According to his youtube page Paul Cooke was the first drummer for Sade and help write all of the songs on the 1984 Diamond Life album. He recently published some rare footage from his time with the band. Below is one of the amazing videos he has on his site.
Mr Cooke indtroduces the video as follows:
This is a my last gig with the band after we recorded the album Diamond Life, note the perfect time keeping but not so perfect vocal from a fledgling singer. I love the guy whistling in the background:) peace Paul Cooke
I highly reccomend you check out the rest of video his collection.
Groove Theory’s Amel Larrieux and SweetBack, best known for their work with Sade, killed it on this one. This joint is both relaxing and inspiring. Don’t sleep!
While sipping on some Lagavulin 16 I stumbled upon this remake of a Marvin Gaye classic. It proved itself to be a righteous complent to a relaxing evening.
